Sound Recording
A sound recorder is a form of mechanism that records sound for sound motion pictures on a different device to the picture/ video itself. Another simple definition for sound recording is 'a device that is used to record sound on items such as a disk, tape or other electronic devices'.
What factors could affect sound recording :
- Environment/ place where recording is made
- Quality of recording equipment
- Correct choice of recording equipment
- Placement of microphone
- person that uses the equipment

ZOOM H4N:

- Has two microphones
- You can plug in two external microphones
Con:
- Can be slow loading SD card
How to record:
- Press 'Red' button twice, once to 'arm', twice to 'record'
- Press square button to stop
How does the environment affect sound:
- Rooms such as an empty sports hall would be very difficult to record in, this is because it would be very reverberant. In addition to this it would be difficult to get a clear recording. Also any background sounds would appear louder as a result of the reverb.

Recording Sound:
To record the sound activity we used the Zoom H1n. As mentioned previously on this page the Zoom H1n is very simple in the way it works. We pressed the red button once and recorded little segments before finally recording a longer full script. After we finished we pressed the square button to stop recording. The following day we retrieved our audio footage and uploaded it to Adobe audition. We did this in order to listen to the audio and check the decibels. Luckily my groups one was perfect and we didn't have any issues with the footage we filmed. Below is an image of the waveform of our audio.
